It's one of those holidays when sugar and carbs can cast an evil spell. Here are six ways to resist the temptation ghouls:

  1. Avoid Treats you Like: If you are filling a candy bowl to hand out for the trick or treaters, buy only candy you don’t like the taste of.

  2. Eat protein: Before you host or go to your costume party or event, eating protein will satiate and make you much less tempted by the carbs and candy.

  3. Hydrate: Not only is water filling but being properly hydrated helps you burn fat faster and reduces carb temptation.

  4. Avoid Alcoholic “Spirits”: People and bartenders like to get very creative concocting specialty themed drinks that usually are loaded with sugar.

  5. Make a Pinky-Promise to Yourself: Writing out your commitment to not deviate from your weight loss or maintenance program will help keep you on track.

  6. Play It Safe: Give away, take to the office or trash any leftover Halloween treats.
